You have an email list. You have an auto responder. Now you have a problem. Are people reading your email? If you are having lower than expected email response rates, you are not alone and the current national average is only a 20 percent open rate. For some reason or another, there are people that only respond when certain words of action are used or a direct and personal question is asked. Sending out mass email takes a little luck and a little strategy mixed with continuity. You can learn how to get better email response rates to double or triple your current email open rate. Most of the marketing that you will do for a real estate listing or private home sale will be with email, Twitter and other social media platforms. Using the tricks that professional real estate marketing experts use will get you more results.
Ways to Get People to Open and Read Your Email
1. Change Your Email Frequency
You can be a great marketer and still come across as a stalker. Studies have been conducted that have reported that people get annoyed when they receive 3 or more emails from the same person or company in a one week period of time. This applies to sales letters and various types of status updates. By setting a frequency of one or two emails each week, you can ensure that your important messages don’t get deleted because someone feels you are invading their space.
2. Write Great Subject Lines
Subjects like “read this”, “here’s a deal for you” and “open fast” don’t have the same charm now as they had in 1997. You have to get creative and write a subject line that will get someone to open your email. The standard display for a subject line is 66 characters or less. Keeping your subjects, including spaces, in this character range will force you to write much better subject lines. After all, “killer deal for my friends only” is so much better than “you have to check this out.”
3. Put Your Best Deal First
When you get someone’s attention, you have to use it immediately to your advantage. Going through several paragraphs of hype and nonsense will turn someone off quickly. Get right to the point of why you’re emailing and put your offer in the first paragraph. You might even daisy chain more than one offer in the same email. That’s OK. When you get right to it with your email, people will respect you more that you do not waste their time with long-winded emails and then a call to action.
4. Use a Personal Reply Address
People love real communication and responses. You can use autoresponders for initial contact, but reply emails need to have your personal time and attention. You don’t have to write a book when replying. Just be fast and to the point. Your leads will appreciate your prompt reply and read your emails fast every time.
